The inaugural Shaky Knees Music Festival goes down in Atlanta this weekend with an eclectic lineup that’s sure to get some knees a shakin’ and a movin’. The two-day festival takes place on Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5, at the Historic Fourth Ward Park and the Masquerade Music Park with 28 bands featured across three outdoor stages.

Hangout Music Fest 2012 alums and “Best New Artist” Grammy nominees The Lumineers headline and close out the main event on Sunday while Band of Horses takes the main stage on Saturday.

The bill includes other Hangout alums Gary Clark Jr., Heartless Bastards, and the ever-popular Dr. Dog while artists set to play Hangout 2013 like Shovels and Rope and My Morning Jacket’s Jim James will also take the Shaky Knees stages in Atlanta.

Georgia will show off their own talent with Athens-based, Southern rockers Drive By Truckers and T. Hardy Morris while Atlanta boasts grunge-rock band Death on Two Wheels.

Organized by Atlanta promoter and The Masquerade Promotions Director Tim Sweetwood, the festival offer fans two days of live music in an urban outdoor setting and the opportunity to walk away with a taste of new music they may have never heard before

I’m not trying to appeal to every music fan or break into territory that has already been well covered by other festivals,” Sweetwood said in a press release. “I’d love for people to be able to find enough of a connection in the lineup to be familiar with several of the artists. But I wanted to offer enough of a range musically that they could get turned on to an artist they might never have heard of but end up loving.”

The Masquerade Music Park plays host to concerts and events throughout the year, including The Lumineers’ sold-out show in Atlanta last fall; however, Shaky Knees will be the  first major festival held on the  grounds of the recently completed Fourth Ward Park running adjacent to The Masquerade Club.

Two-day and single-day VIP tickets are sold out, but general admission single-day tickets are still available for $61 at

Shaky Knees Late night concert tickets are also still available for $20. The late night concert takes place in Heaven at the Masquerade and features The Black Angels and Swedish experimental group Goat.
